Trust language only works when each source keeps its meaning.
The public site should make evidence legible without blurring the source. Imported reviews, owner claims, registry checks, rights requests, and commercial tools each mean something different. See how we check the reviews we show before treating them as trust.
Verification means a checkable source
Credential, company, licence, and registry claims should name the check behind them so users can inspect what was verified.
Claiming does not change meaning
A tradesperson can claim a profile, but claim status must not rewrite review history, source quality, ranking, or trust language.
Corrections stay visible as a right
Incorrectly matched profiles, harmful data, and privacy concerns all have a clear correction option.
Our recognitions cannot become their own evidence
Evidence-recognition editions are built separately from profile evidence and publish their comparison group, cutoff, sources, tie-breakers and limitations. Receiving one cannot change the evidence shown, Trust Score, search position, or the independent third-party awards shown on a profile.
The standard
What every page should make legible.
Why a tradesperson appears should never be a mystery.
Search, chat, and shortlist pages should make the reason clear: job match, location fit, review depth, credentials, named sources, and visible cautions.
Every strong claim needs a named source.
If a tradesperson is described as verified, recent, active, or credentialed, the product should reveal the named source, registry, or check behind that claim.
Verified facts and imported signals are not the same thing.
Registry matches, business-status checks, and current credentials must read differently from imported reviews and third-party listings.
Missing or stale evidence should stay visible.
The job is not to make every profile look polished. The job is to show where the evidence is strong, weak, fresh, stale, or unresolved.
Money must stay separate from trust.
Claiming a profile, using business tools, or spending with MyTrustedTraders must not buy rank, evidence recognition, badges, or trust language.
Public trust copy stops at evidence.
We can explain confidence and caution. We cannot imply workmanship guarantees or features that do not yet exist in the product.

- An evidence recognition is a dated editorial result under a published method, not certification, endorsement, or a promise of workmanship.
- We do not make guarantee claims that public evidence cannot support.
- We do not guarantee completeness, workmanship, or outcome quality from public evidence alone.
- We do expect homeowners to inspect the evidence and verify before hiring.
Governance rule
Trust has to be explainable, inspectable, and challengeable.
MyTrustedTraders can help people move faster through public evidence, but it should never ask them to accept a black-box trust claim or a paid shortcut to credibility.

- Commercial tools can fund the business, but not public ranking, badges, review visibility, or evidence language.
- Editorial evidence recognition must be reproducible, free, challengeable, and isolated from the evidence and ranking systems it describes.
- If a claim cannot be explained to a homeowner or challenged by a tradesperson, it should not be presented as trust.
